The wait is over. Pathan, Shah Rukh Khan’s highly anticipated return to the big screen (in a lead role) after more than four years, releases in theaters today (Jan 25) and all eyes are on the Siddharth Anand film. Now Deepika Padukone, who plays an anti-terrorist agent in the movie alongside SRK, has shared a photo that gives a glimpse of her pre-release mood. The image, posted late Tuesday evening, shows four plates of decadent sweet treats, including pastries, ice cream and brownies. Also on one of the dessert plates is a message: “Good luck to you.” Pathan”, written with chocolate. When sharing the image, Deepika Padukone simply dropped finger-cross emojis in the caption. Fans have flooded the comment section with congratulations. Some have also dropped notes wishing Deepika Padukone good luck.

In a video shared as part of Pathan promotions, Deepika Padukone confessed that playing a “femme fatale spy” was no easy feat. In the Yash Raj Films clip, Deepika said the work routine and diet she adopted for the role was one of the “hardest” regimens of her life.

“It’s probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done to get into any kind of shape for a movie, for a character,” said Deepika Padukone. “I don’t want to go into the details because I know there are times when people get carried away when actors mention diets. So I’m not going to go into the details of what the routine was, but I can tell you it was one of the hardest workout regimens, one of the hardest diets I was on.

Sticking to the regime for almost two years only made the process more difficult, Deepika Padukone added. “But I think it also really took an incredible amount of discipline. To keep that up for maybe a year, a year and a half, two years, I can’t even remember — but to be able to maintain that physicality for that long is probably the hardest That said, when you see the results on the screen, when you see people react to it when people recognize the hard work and effort, it feels worth it,” she said.
