Television actor Ratan Rajput, who became a household name with programs like Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo and Ratan Ka Rishta, has been missing from the small screen for nearly four years. She was last seen in &TV’s mythological drama Santoshi Maa. Recently, the actor revealed that she was suffering from depression and therefore decided to take a break from her work.
Ratan told ETimes how she was at the lowest point of her life after her father’s death in 2018. It was the time when her TV show Santoshi Maa also ended. She said: “After Santoshi Maa got up in 2018, just a day later, I lost my father and that was a terrible blow to me. I fell into a depression and didn’t want to do anything.”
In order to recover, the actor decided to study psychology, in addition to consulting psychologists for her condition. Traveling and farming also proved to be therapeutic for her.
Ratan Rajput said she left Mumbai and spent three months in a village. “Breaking in villages for three months was therapeutic and helped me heal to some extent. I have also learned that people in villages lead a life without pretensions. I enjoyed my time there and this trip also helped me explore my inner self,” she said, adding how she gained a new perspective on life after spending time in the countryside.
Now, after being away from TV for four years, Ratan plans to return to work.
