The Indian Air Force (IAF) on Monday commissioned its first batch of domestically developed Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) as a major boost to its combat power. The helicopters were inducted into the IAF at a ceremony in Jodhpur in the presence of Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and Chief of the Air Force, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. They have been given the name “Prachand”. “The introduction of domestically developed Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) will increase our capability and boost defense production. There could not have been better timing for LCH induction than Navratri and in the land of warriors, Rajasthan,” said Rajnath during the introduction of the helicopters. Rajnath added that it is a “memorable occasion” that reflects India’s defense manufacturing capability.
