Tripathi has served in various capacities including district SP of Dhalai and North District from 1999 to 2004. The 1997 IPS officer previously worked in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) from 2004 to 2012. IGP (policy) and was responsible for coordination and monitoring.
He served as Deputy Inspector General (Northern Range), DIG (Southern Range), DIG (Headquarters) and DIG (CID) during 2012-14. He also served in the Sashastra Seema Bal from 2016 to 2021. He took charge of ADGP (law and order) of Tripura on 1 January.
Kangkan Jyoti Saikia, Deputy Inspector General from the south of Assam, has secured this year’s police medal list from the president. In 2021, Violet Baruah, the first Deputy Inspector General of Police, Bodoland Territorial Region, was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Outstanding Service.
In addition, Guwahati Police Commissioner Diganta Barah and the Prime Minister’s Special Vigilance Cell SP Rosie Kalita is among 14 Assam police officers selected for this year’s Police Long Service Medal.
Rosie Kalita thanked the government for honoring her with the prestigious award. “Such recognition encourages us to work harder,” she added.
In total, the Center selected 901 police officers for the police medals on the occasion of Republic Day. A total of 140 police officers have been selected for the Police Medal for Bravery (PMG), 93 for the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) and 668 for the Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PM).
