Congress general secretary KC Venugopal suffered injuries to his hands and knees after falling during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday.
Venugopal sustained injuries after he fell due to a stampede on the fifth day of Madhya Pradesh’s leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra in Indore. According to ANI, he received first aid at the Yatra camp.
The stampede reportedly occurred due to police personnel’s failure to contain a group formed to meet with Rahul Gandhi.
However, the senior leader joined the march soon after, according to reports.
Earlier in the day, Venugopal had criticized the BJP for “trying to invent something” against the Bharat Jodo Yatra. Venugopal said the BJP is doing this because it knows the “real outcome of this yatra,” ANI reported.
His remarks came in response to allegations of “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans raised in the Bharat Jodo Yatra in Madhya Pradesh.
Venugopal was reportedly sent to extinguish the fire following the recent rift in Rajasthan between CM Ashok Gehlot and his former deputy Sachin Pilot. According to reports, Venugopal will visit the state on November 29 to hold meetings with members of the committees formed for the Rajasthan leg of Bharat Jodo Yatra, with both Gehlot and Pilot attending. He will also oversee preparations for the Yatra in the desert state.
