Aparna Yadav, the youngest daughter-in-law of Samajwadi party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav, met BJP state unit president Bhupendra Singh Chaudhary in Lucknow on Thursday.
Chaudhary also shared a photo of the encounter on his Twitter handle.
Aparna Yadav had joined the BJP on the eve of the state’s last parliamentary elections.
Chaudhary’s meeting with Aparna Yadav coincided with the Samajwadi party’s statement of her candidate from the Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat, where a poll will be held on December 5.
Earlier in the day, the SP had announced Dimple Yadav as a candidate from the seat, which became vacant after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Dimple Yadav is the wife of the SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and also the eldest daughter-in-law of the SP founder. She represented Kannauj seat in 2012 and 2014.
A BJP spokesperson called the meeting between Chudhary and Aparna Yadav a “routine” affair.
BJP has yet to announce its candidate for the Mainpuri seat – a stronghold of the Samajwadi party.
The party’s spokesman said the BJP is undergoing a process before the candidate is declared for a seat in an election.
Aparna Yadav had joined the Bharatiya Janata party in New Delhi on January 19 this year and had also campaigned for it in the parliamentary elections.
She is married to Prateek Yadav, the son of the second wife of Mulayam Singh Yadav.
Akhilesh Yadav is his son from his first marriage.
