BJP conducts door-to-door campaigns; Nadda says AAP robbed Delhi of development

Senior BJP leaders, including Union ministers, conducted house-to-house campaigns here on Sunday ahead of the municipal polls, with party chief JP Nadda saying the AAP has deprived Delhi of development as the country marches forward.

The December 4 Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) polls are seen as a high-stakes contest, with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Congress aiming to wrest the civic body from the BJP which has held it for 15 years. reigned.

Seeking support for BJP candidates in a door-to-door campaign in the Wazirpur area, Nadda attacked the AAP government, claiming that she had deprived Delhi of development as the entire country marched forward under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The party is set to win 180 out of 250 wards in the MCD elections, Delhi BJP president Adesh Gupta claimed during his campaign in Baljeet Nagar district.

“People have come to realize that Arvind Kejriwal (the chief minister and national AAP organizer) is saying one thing and doing the exact opposite. AAP leaders know through their internal polls that they are losing badly in the polls,” he said.

The Delhi BJP also took around 10,000 slum dwellers from 50 constituencies to visit 3,024 flats recently provided to people from economically disadvantaged areas under the ‘Jahan Jhuggi Wahan Makan’ scheme in Kalkaji.

The BJP is committed to providing ‘pucca’ houses to all Delhi slum dwellers by 2027, the party’s national secretary Sunil Deodhar said.

Union Minister Piyush Goyal campaigned in Gandhi Nagar and Shastri Nagar areas of East Delhi. The “biggest evidence” of the Kejriwal government’s “corruption” was the withdrawal of its apology policy for 2021, he said.

The 2021-22 excise policy was withdrawn by the AAP government in July after Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena recommended a CBI investigation on November 17 last year into alleged violation of rules in its implementation.

“The AAP government in Delhi has turned out to be a complete failure when it comes to fulfilling responsibilities, which is why the BJP is getting the love and support of the people of the city,” he said.

“Together, Kejriwal and his ministers have gone beyond the height of corruption and tarnished India’s image not only in the country but also abroad,” Goyal claimed.

In the Kalkaji area, union minister Hardeep Singh Puri said Kejriwal talks about making everything free, but when it comes to funding for it, he becomes dependent on the central government.

“People of Delhi have been cheated in the name of politics of freebies for the past eight years, followed by Kejriwal and his party,” Puri said.

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami claimed that the “immense support” received from the public is “direct evidence” that the people of Delhi will let the BJP prevail in the MCD polls.

More than a lakh BJP workers led by Nadda reached out to voters in the 250 municipal wards during the campaign, a Delhi BJP statement said.

BJP National Vice President and Delhi in-charge Baijayant Jay Panda, Union Minister Ajay Bhatt, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, and MPs Manoj Tiwari, Harsh Vardhan, Rameah Bidhuri, Nishikant Dubey and Parvesh Sahib Singh also campaigned for the polls.
