Congress leader Krishna Kumar Pandey went into cardiac arrest and died on Tuesday while attending the Congress Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is currently touring Maharashtra. Pandey was the general secretary of the grassroots organization ‘Seva Dal’ of the Congress in Maharashtra.

The big old party said in a statement that Pandey collapsed during the march and was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi expressed his condolences on Pandey’s passing and said his dedication is inspiring.

“Congress Seva Dal General Secretary, Krishnakant Pandey ji’s passing is very sad for the whole Congress family. I extend my deepest condolences to his loved ones. Today, until the last moment during the journey, he held the tricolor in his hands. His dedication to the country will always inspire us,” Gandhi said in a tweet in Hindi.
