Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Wednesday that the “Congress model” included nepotism, casteism, sectarianism and vote bank politics.
Speaking at a rally in Mehsana in northern Gujarat, where parliamentary elections are scheduled for next month in two stages, Modi said the congress devastated not only Gujarat but the whole country.
“The congressional model means corruption, nepotism, dynastic politics, sectarianism and casteism. They are known for indulging in vote bank politics and creating rifts between people to gain power.
“This model has devastated not only Gujarat, but also India. That is why we have to work hard to move the country forward today,” he said.
The prime minister will also conduct polls in Dahod, Vadodara and Bhavnagar during the day.
