As part of his two-day visit to Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the BJP cadres at Begumpet Airport in Hyderabad on Saturday. During his speech, he expressed confidence that the BJP will surely come to power in Telangana. Citing BJP’s performance in the recently concluded Munugode bypolls, Prime Minister Modi said he was inspired by the BJP activists from Telangana. “They are very brave and fight against oppression without being afraid of anyone,” he said.
The prime minister’s statement comes ahead of the 2023 parliamentary election, in which the BJP seeks to challenge the K Chandrasekhar Rao-led TRS government.
Speaking to party cadres at the BJP reception meeting in the grounds of Begumpet Airport, Prime Minister Modi said: “People showed their confidence in BJP with the Munugode by election. The entire government of Telangana camped in Munugode to secure one assembly seat. The darkness in Telangana will disappear very soon. Lotus (the polling symbol of the BJP) flourished in Munugode. The people are making it clear that the BJP will come to power in the future,” he said.
Munugode bypoll saw the rise of the BJP as second and relegated Congress to third. Prime Minister Modi criticized the support of left-wing parties to the ruling TRS in Munugode, saying: “The forces of blind belief have ruled the state, which is at the forefront of the IT sector. BJP will eliminate superstition in the state.”
“The government and the leader here are constantly doing injustice to the capacity of Telangana and the talent of the Telangana people. The party most trusted by the Telangana people, the same party has committed the greatest betrayal of Telangana,” he said, without mentioning TRS. However, the lotus begins to bloom in conditions where it is dark, he said.
In a clear reference to the TRS often attacking him, Modi said he remains undisturbed by such alleged abuse and appealed to BJP activists in the state not to worry about it.
Prime Minister Modi addressed Communist Party leaders as carrying red flags and opposing development and social justice. The ruling TRS is joining hands with such leaders, he said.
On one family rule in Telangana, Prime Minister Modi said: “Corruption and one family rule are enemies of democracy. Some people aren’t happy with me because I can’t tolerate corruption at any cost, but it doesn’t bother me. I will not be silent if anything happens to the people of Telangana. If anyone wrongs people in this state, they will face serious consequences. Those in opposition are developing enmity against the BJP as it has delivered fruits of development to people through services like Aadhar, mobile phone and UPI without any corruption.
He claimed that the TRS government in the state has watered down the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and fooled people by making a pledge about building 2BHK houses.
