Koshyari should consider quitting as Maha Guv, says Ajit Pawar

Nationalist Congress party leader Ajit Pawar said on Sunday that Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari should consider stepping down if he cannot understand the emotions of the state and legendary warrior king Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Koshyari had said on Saturday that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was an icon of “old days”, even referring to Babasaheb Ambedkar and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari while talking about “icons” in the state, NCP anti-aircraft gunner and Uddhav Thackeray led Shiv Sena- faction.

Koshyari made the remarks after conferring D.Litt degrees on Gadkari, a senior BJP leader, and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar at an event in Aurangabad.

In a statement released during the day, Pawar said, “It was time for Koshyari to reconsider his continuation as governor of the state.” “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a great role model for using power for the good of people and not for self-interest. We have inspired Maharashtra and will continue to do so from time immemorial,” the leader of the opposition said in the state assembly.

Pawar also said Prime Minister Narendra Modi should take note of Koshyari’s comments.
