Former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Mulayam Singh Yadav has been admitted to the “critical care unit” at Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, the hospital said Monday after the Samajwadi party announced the health of the 82-year-old patriarch the day before. had deteriorated. Mulayam Singh Yadav was treated by an “extensive team of specialists” and has been receiving treatment in Medanta since August 22, the hospital said.
He was also hospitalized earlier in July. “Sh Mulayam Singh is currently in the Critical Care Unit of Medanta Hospital, Gurgaon, and is being treated by an extensive team of specialists,” the hospital said in a statement.
Son Akhilesh Yadav, daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav and brother Shivpal Singh Yadav had visited him on Sunday, while some party officials also reached the hospital grounds to inquire about his condition. “Respected netaji (Mulayam Singh Yadav) is admitted to the ICU. His condition is stable. It is a humble request to all of you not to come to the hospital. Information about his health will be provided from time to time,” the SP wrote on its official Twitter handle on Sunday.
After the SP was informed of Mulayam Singh’s poor health, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath spoke with Akhilesh to inquire about his father’s health. Modi assured him all possible help and assistance, sources said.
Special prayers for Mulayam
Workers, meanwhile, offered prayers at many temples across the state for the long life of the founder of the Samajwadi party. Prayers were organized at the Hanuman Temple on Vikramaditya Marg in Lucknow, just steps from the Yadav’s residence, an office holder said.
In Varanasi, party workers have prayed at temples including the Hanuman Temple in Gilat Bazar and Bada Ganesh Mandir in Lohatia, an SP leader said. Party spokesman Manoj Rai said everyone needs the blessings of ‘Netaji’ (as Mulayam is fondly addressed) and that they held special prayers in several temples along with a havan at Assi ghat in Varanasi.
In Varanasi, SP leader Ajay Yadav said he was willing to donate his kidney if necessary. Also in Saharanpur prayers were said for a speedy recovery of Mulayam. Faisal Salmani, a former SP chairman, held a prayer for all religions.
