Mainpuri Bypolls

Meanwhile, the battle for Manipuri in Uttar Pradesh flares up. Samajwadi Party leader Dimple Yadav claimed on Sunday that the BJP-led government will crack down on local party leaders ahead of the Mainpuri by-election and asked them not to “sleep at home” the night before the election. “I would like to tell my young friends and SP leaders that the board will crack down on you on December 4. Do not sleep in your houses on December 4, so that no one can touch you on December 5.

“You are going to cast your vote, and on December 6, the administration here will disappear,” she said at an election rally in Ahirava village below the Bhogaon assembly.

The match in Manipuri, considered a bastion of the Samajwadi Party, is between Dimple Yadav, the daughter-in-law of the late Mulayam Singh Yadav, and Raghunath Shakya of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The poll will take place in Mainpuri on December 5 and the results will be announced on December 8.
