Politics All about multiplication, division, not everything seen is true, says Rajasthan CM Gehlot

Days after a crisis in the Rajasthan Congress, Prime Minister Ashok Gehlot said on Monday that politics is all about “multiplication and division”, and what is seen is rarely true and what is true is not seen. The prime minister also scolded the media, saying that some organizations are reporting news based on their perspective, which serves no purpose and also undermines their credibility. “People have extraordinary common sense and they understand everything,” he told reporters.

“Politics is done by multiplication and division. In politics sometimes what is seen is not true and what is true is not seen,” he said at a press conference on ‘Invest Rajasthan’ to be held on October 7-8. The political crisis in the state unfolded with the decision of the big old party to hold a Congress Legislature Party (CLP) meeting at the prime minister’s residence on September 25. choose the party chairman for which Gehlot was the frontrunner.

The party had sent AICC secretary general for Rajasthan Ajay Maken and the then opposition leader in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge, who is now contesting the poll, as observers to hold the CLP meeting. However, hours before the meeting, MLAs loyal to Gehlot held a parallel meeting at the residence of Parliamentary Affairs Minister Shanti Dhariwal in what they believed was a rally to make Sachin Pilot the new prime minister.

The MLAs skipped the CLP meeting and tendered their resignations to Chairman CP Joshi at his home. They demanded that the party choose someone from the 102 MLAs who supported Gehlot during the political crisis in July 2020 as his replacement if he were to leave the post and become party chairman. The 2020 uprising against Gehlot was led by Pilot, then the deputy prime minister, with 18 MLAs.

The CLP meeting did not take place. Four days later, Gehlot met with party chairman Sonia Gandhi in New Delhi and apologized to her for not being able to get a one-line resolution passed during the meeting. He took moral responsibility for the crisis and announced that he will not participate in the presidential elections.

However, after his return from Delhi, Gehlot has indicated by his performance style that he will remain as prime minister, although an official decision is pending.
