Ranveer Singh, Hot Words Spark ‘Embers’ as Sena Factions Fire Walk

The Shiv Sena faction led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde will undergo its first popularity test in the November 3 survey of the Andheri (East) Assembly segment in Mumbai, which was represented by Shiv Sena MLA, the late Ramesh Latke.

The upcoming match has sparked great interest as both Shiv Sena factions compete for the Shiv Sena’s “Bow and Arrow” symbol. The Election Commission is currently hearing petitions to determine the ‘real’ Shiv Sena and the election symbol. The election commission released the midterm election schedule on Monday. The election will take place on November 6.

Both factions compete for the legacy of Shiv Sena founder Bal Thackeray. Two separate Dussehra meetings, hosted by Uddhav and Shinde, will be held in Mumbai. Many party fanfare and security arrangements have preceded the rallies, which will be a showdown between the factions. CLICK HERE to read more about the Dussehra rallies

The Bypollo

Andheri (East) seat became vacant following the death of Latke, who had won the seat twice in a row, in May this year. The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Shinde faction have put Murji Patel, a former shareholder of the Mumbai civil society, in the by-election. The Shiv Sena led by Uddhav Thackeray is likely to raise the late Latke’s wife, Rutuja Latke. Speaking to reporters in Pune on Monday, NCP chief Sharad Pawar said his party will hold Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena in the by-election.

Mumbai’s BJP chief Ashish Shelar inaugurated the party’s central office on Sunday for the poll in a suburb of Andheri. He tweeted that Murji Patel enjoys great support among the locals. Andheri East Assembly constituency is one of 26 segments in Mumbai Suburban district.

It is part of the Mumbai North West Lok Sabha constituency. The late Latke had won the seat of Congress in 2014. In 2009 it was represented by Suresh Shetty of Congress.

BMC polls are coming

Shinde’s uprising in June toppled the government of Thackeray Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), and the two factions have had a bitter relationship ever since, with workers sometimes clashing in the streets.

The BMC polls, scheduled for January and February of next year, have been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Eknath Shinde’s BJP and Shiv Sena will run as alliance partners in the BMC elections, Deputy Prime Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced in September. “Eknath Shinde’s BJP and Shiv Sena will participate in the elections for Brihanmumbai Municipality together,” Fadnavis said at a press conference in Mumbai.

However, there is speculation about the seat-sharing formula between the BJP and the Shinde-led faction, which has yet to be determined. According to reports, both sides will discuss seat sharing based on the reality on the ground and the strength of each side.

In the most recent BMC elections, held in February 2017, the Shiv Sena won 84 seats, while the BJP won 82 seats. The Congress Party won 22 seats, while the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won just nine.

No stones turned over

With the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections in mind, Shiv Sena President Uddhav Thackeray had attacked the BJP in September and challenged Union Minister of the Interior Amit Shah to hold civil elections within a month. . Speaking at his first meeting since his resignation as prime minister in June, Thackeray had urged his party staff to fight the upcoming BMC elections as if they were their first.

Taking a shot at Fadnavis, who had told the BJP workers that every election should be fought as if it were the last election of their lives, Thackeray said: “Yes, this is your last election,” telling his party associates to compete with the election as if it were their first.

Home Secretary Amit Shah is said to have set a target of 150 seats for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance, led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, in the upcoming BMC elections and expressed confidence in their victory, ANI had previously reported.

Meanwhile, in view of the BMC elections, Shinde had recently said that BMC and Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport (BEST) employees will each receive a bonus of Rs 22,500 before Diwali. More than 93,000 employees receive the bonus. BEST staff, BMC officials and teachers/non-teaching staff in schools will receive Rs 22,500, while health workers will receive one month’s salary as a bonus.

The ruling party’s carefully planned strategy also includes festivities. Hosted by the BJP, the Marathi Garba was first introduced by singer Avdhoot Gupte, and also features Bollywood A-lister Ranveer Singh.

Ranveer Singh was the main attraction in the Marathi dandiya program organized by BJP MLA Mihir Kotecha on the weekend of 2 October. Ranveer Singh’s powerful performance captivated the crowd attending the event, Mirror Now reported.
