Samajwadi party submits evidence of voter name removal to EC today

A delegation from the Samajwadi Party (SP) will visit the Election Commission on Thursday to submit a written response to allegations that the names of Yadav and Muslim voters had been massively removed from voter lists prior to the election. the Assembly polls earlier this year initiated by the BJP.

The delegation will carry specific copies of the missing names and also hand over voter lists with boxes where names have been crossed out at the last minute, senior party leaders said.

SP spokesman Rajendra Chaudhary said: “We will hand over the documents to the committee on Thursday that we have been able to collect in the time we have, to support our claims.”

Former minister Ravidas Mehrotra said: “Actually, we had encountered this anomaly during the elections and informed our national president about it. It was based on the feedback from us candidates that he said what he said. We have now collected the electoral roll and verified on the spot the names that have been dropped to the best of our ability, given the limited time the party had to submit the answer.

The SP leadership had sent a circular to candidates who took part in the elections to the House of Representatives on the party card, asking them to submit supporting documents.

“We’ve encountered cases where names, in some cases in the hundreds, were dropped from one booth’s list at the last minute,” said a senior leader who oversaw the compilation process.

On October 27, the EC had notified SP National President Akhilesh Yadav requesting evidence of allegations that the Commission had removed the names of nearly 20,000 Yadav and Muslim voters at the behest of the BJP in each constituency of the Assembly. the polls.

The SP chief was asked to provide documentary evidence by November 10 to substantiate his allegations.

Akhilesh had made the allegations while addressing delegates at the party’s national convention held in Lucknow in September.
