Spain reigns as second Rafael Nadal behind Carlos Alcaraz in ATP ranking | tennis news

PARIS: Spain reigns on top of the men tennis of Carlos Alcarazo with world number one spot in the ATP ranking released on Monday with compatriot Rafael Nadal back to second place.
Nadal, 36, took advantage of Casper Ruud’s departure in the quarterfinals in Seoul, where he was seeded first, to stay ahead of the Norwegian.
Novak Djokovic, winner of his third tournament this season in Tel Aviv, remains seventh but scores 250 precious points in the race for the ATP Final in Turin, his goal at the end of the season.
The Serb entered his first singles tournament in Israel since claiming the seventh Wimbledon crown in July, and can still earn points in the Astana ATP tournament this week.
Croat Marin Cilic won two places and went from 16th to 14th place, thanks to reaching the final in Tel Aviv.
