Play-off behind Tranmere extended their unbeaten League Two run to a seventh game, but had to settle for one point after a 1-1 draw with Rochdale at Prenton Park.
Kane Hemmings headed a quick equalizer for the home side after Ian Henderson’s first league goal of the campaign at 35 minutes gave Rochdale the lead against the course of the game.
Manager Micky Mellon’s side dominated their humble visitors for a long time, creating the first clear opening when Hemmings looked wide of Josh Dacres-Cogley’s fleeting delivery on the 15 minute mark.
Rochdale stunned their hosts when Henderson was inexplicably left unmarked to launch a sharp charge past goalkeeper Ross Doohan after Jimmy Keohane’s ball over the top.
Hemmings vigorously met Kieron Morris’ flying right-hand delivery for a quick response.
But Tranmere was unable to convert the pressure of the second half into maximum points.
Visiting keeper Richard O’Donnell held out Morris’ low 18-yard strike and Jordan Turnbull headed into the woodwork with 15 minutes to go.
For Rochdale, Tyrese Sinclair Doohan worked with a shot after a rare breakaway, but the visitors were satisfied with the draw for a third game in a row without a loss.
