Pro League will be a good test for the World Cup: Mandeep Singh | Hockey News

BENGALURU: Star Indian forward Mandeep Singh on Tuesday said coming Pro League will be a perfect platform to “test” oneself ahead of the big FIH World Cup, which will be held in Odisha next year.
Ahead of the 2023 World Cup, the Indian team will compete in the Pro League from October 28 to November 6.
“It is always good to compete against strong teams for a big league. The Pro League will again be useful to prepare us for the World Cup and will also give us a chance to test ourselves before the tournament,” the 27- year-old said in a statement from Hockey India.

The fifth-ranked Indian team has been placed in a difficult Pool D along with England, Spain and Wales. The group stopper immediately makes it to the quarter-finals while the next two teams will have to battle it out in the crossovers.
“Our Coach Graham Reid always tells us to focus on what we can control and not worry about things that are out of our control. Regardless of which teams we have in our group, we focus on preparing as best we can and according to our plans,” mandeep said.
“We are convinced that if we stick to our basics and focus on the areas where we need to improve in training, we will be able to perform well in the tournament and put on a great show,” he added. ready.
The four-year showpiece will be held at two Odisha venues in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela, with 16 teams competing in the tournament.
