Rishabh Pant with his ‘daring and courage’ is a must in the Indian starting line-up: Adam Gilchrist | Cricket News

DUBAI: For his sheer “courage and daring”, Rishabh Pant must always be part of the India starting eleven during the coming World Cup T20feels the former Australian great Adam Gilchrist.
There has been some debate over who van Pant and Dinesh Karthik should be in the starting lineup, and Gilchrist’s confidence is in favor of the much younger Pant.
“The audacity of Rishabh Pant and the courage in him, the way he tackles bowling attacks, I think he should be a must in that Indian lineup,” Gilchrist said in an ICC release.
“They (Karthik and Pant) can play together, but I think Rishabh Pant should definitely be there.”
India included both Pant and Karthik in the 15-man squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia, but the disappointing record of the first in T20Is could work against him.

Pant has 934 runs in 58 T20Is with an average of 23.94 and a strike rate of 126.21. But he hasn’t really enjoyed the success expected of him in this format, unlike Test cricket where he is already an established star.
In addition, Karthik has blossomed as a finisher lately, which is to his advantage.
But like his former skipper Ricky Ponting, Gilchrist also thinks that the two wicketkeeper batters can also start in the eleven together.
“It will be interesting to see if they can both play on the same team. I think they can. What they bring to a team… Dinesh Karthik’s versatility, he can play at the top; he can, if he has this He did more later in his career, in the middle and late overs to finish. He’s got a really nice game,” the former Australian wicketkeeper batter said.
