Akhilesh Yadav’s message to SP colleagues about becoming party chief for the third time in a row

On Thursday, when Samajwadi Party (SP) leader Akhilesh Yadav was re-elected as the party’s national president for the third consecutive time, he asked the SP cadres to be ready to fill the prisons. Akhilesh quoted “Neta Ji” Mulayam Singh Yadav as saying that this is the only way out if anyone is denied justice. The decision to elect him as national president was taken unanimously at the National Convention held at Ramabai Ambedkar Maidan in Lucknow.

“Samajwadi people should be ready to fill prisons when the time comes. Even Neta Ji had said that if you don’t get justice, this is the only way out,” Akhilesh Yadav said as he addressed the crowd at the event.

When he was re-elected as the national president of the Samajwadi party, Akhilesh Yadav said: “This is not just any position, you have given me a huge responsibility. This responsibility has been entrusted to me at a time when our Constitution is in jeopardy, I assure you that I will prove my worth for the position you have chosen me. Even if this responsibility requires me to work day and night, I will not hesitate. We Samajwadi people have to work hard for the next five years to write a new history.”

Akhilesh took potshots at the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) during his speech, claiming the party was against farmers. “By introducing black farming laws, the BJP has proven that they are against farmers. Hundreds of farmers lost their lives, agricultural loans were not forgiven. If you bring industries to Gujarat, why can’t you bring them to states like UP and Bihar?” he wondered.

“Why is there so much bias at UP? This state made your government and you are now showing your bias towards this state,” he added.

Akhilesh also claimed, “The BJP has misused the state apparatus to form the government. Nearly 20,000 votes were deliberately scrapped in each assembly seat, and these were mostly done in the area where Yadav and Muslims were in the majority. The Election Commission was hand in hand with BJP Panna Pramukhs in removing the names of Muslim voters from the electoral roll.”

Akhilesh Yadav was elected SP for the first time in Lucknow on January 1, 2017, replacing party founder and his father Mulayam Singh Yadav. The second time, Akhilesh was unanimously re-elected as the National President on October 5, 2017 at the National Convention in Agra.
