Hrithik Roshan, who is waiting for the release of his upcoming movie Vikram Vedhastarring Saif Ali Khan, candid about the box office clash with Mani Ratnam’s magnum opusPonniyin Selvan: Ik. Recently, at a press conference in Delhi, Hrithik said he has not read the book (a novel Ponniyin Selvan is based on) and will therefore focus on his film Vikram Vedha. According to a report in Hindu TimesHrithik said, “I haven’t read the book. So to me it’s just Vikram Vedha. That’s all I know.”
Vikram Vedha director duo Pushkar and Gayatri also commented on the clash, saying they don’t see it. Vikram Vedha and Ponniyin Selvan‘s clash at the box office and added that one could not beat Ponniyin Selvan. “Ponniyin Selvan is a classic text, a story of intrigue set during the Chola Empire. You can’t beat that. It’s a six-volume book I used to read. That text was an inspiration to every writer who came out of Chennai. We’re doing our part, and they’ve done theirs. Let’s hope people start watching both movies. I think Friday-Saturday or Saturday-Sunday. I’m definitely going to watch that movie,” the Hindustan Times quoted the directors as saying.
Ponniyin Selvan: Ik is based on the popular novel of the same name by Kalki Krishnamurthy. In the periodic drama, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Jayam Ravi, Karthi and Trisha play the lead roles.

On the other hand, Vikram Vedha is the remake of the 2017 film of the same name, starring R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. The film also stars Radhika Apte and Rohit Saraf in pivotal roles.
Vikram Vedha and Ponniyin Selvan: Ik will hit theaters on September 30.
