Plastic bottle thrown at Kejriwal during Navratri event in Gujarat, goes over his head without hitting him

A plastic water bottle was thrown at Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal at a Garba event in the Rajkot city of Gujarat, but the object did not hit him and went over his head, leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said on Sunday. A video recording of the incident, which took place on Saturday night during Kejriwal’s visit to the Navratri event, showed the bottle being thrown from behind at AAP Kejriwal’s national convener as he walked waving to the participants. The Delhi CM was joined by security officials and senior party leaders as he walked through the crowd of revelers.

AAP’s media coordinator Sukanraj said: “The bottle was thrown from some distance. It was about Kejriwal’s head. It appears that the bottle was thrown at Kejriwal, but we cannot say for sure that this was the case. There was no need to approach the police.” Kejriwal and Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will pay a two-day visit to Gujarat from Saturday ahead of the state’s parliamentary polls to be held later this year. Mann also took part in a Garba event at another location in the city.

The two CMs stayed overnight in Rajkot after holding meetings in Gandhidham in Kutch and Junagadh district on Saturday. They will jointly address two gatherings on Sunday in the city of Surendranagar and the city of Khedbrahma in Sabarkantha.
