The Guru Arjan Dev Ji gurdwara in Mahavir Nagar in West Delhi was built by the Afghan Sikhs who had fled to India after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in the late 1990s. Today this is a shelter and source of spiritual comfort for the same community that had to flee Afghanistan after the Taliban took over. There are estimated to be about 30,000 Afghan Sikhs in India, and most of them are in Delhi
