The Pakistani Cricket Board (PCB) said Fakhar would be part of the official 15-man T20 World Cup squad, while Qadir, who is still recovering from a broken thumb, will join the traveling reserves.
“The change was necessary as Usman Qadir has yet to recover from a hairline fracture to his right thumb that he sustained during the T20I on September 25 against England in Karachi. The leg spinner will not be available for selection until October 22,” the PCB said in a statement.
It said Zaman will arrive in Brisbane from London on Saturday along with Shaheen Shah Afridi and will be available for selection for the two warm-up games against England (October 17) and Afghanistan (October 19), in which team management will monitor the condition of the left-handed batter.
Zaman was banned from the recent home T20I series against England after injuring his knee while fielding in the Asia Cup final in Dubai.
He was also sent to London along with Afridi to rehabilitate for the injury.
During the two warm-up competitions, Afridi’s competition fitness will also be tested. He has not played since mid-July when he injured his knee while fielding the first Test against Sri Lanka in Galle.
