Congress presidential candidate Shashi Tharoor on Thursday reiterated his remark about an “unequal playing field” in the party elections, deploring the “difference in treatment” imposed on him by some heads of state during campaigns. Tharoor’s challenger Mallikarjun Kharge, who is considered a favorite to win the race to the top post, declined to comment on the comments and downplayed it. Tharoor, who is seeking votes to bring about a change in Congress, said several PCC chiefs and senior leaders were unavailable to meet with him during his visits to their respective states, but they were warmed to Kharge when he visited them to seek support.
