Trinamool Congress (TMC) Member of Parliament (MP) Sudip Banerjee is attacked by his party’s five-time MLA Tapas Roy.
Also Roy, a vintage car in TMC, is from North Kolkata, also in Banerjee’s area. Although the two have never been on good terms, Roy has now started attacking Banerjee openly.
Roy told News18: “Look, he’s the person who constantly says bad things about our leader Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee. He left the party once and contested as an independent candidate. He was not in the party for six years. Now trying expel seniors. He is accused of corruption. I have nothing to lose.”
Sources say last year Roy was appointed party chairman of North Kolkata but was later removed to make way for Banerjee. When Banerjee visited his longtime follower, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) North Kolkata President Tamoghno Ghosh, who was previously with the TMC, for Durga Puja, Roy launched an attack on him.
When Banerjee went to Mamata Banerjee’s Bijoya Sammilani on Thursday, Roy said, “I don’t need to meet little BJP leaders. Prime Minister Modi sits opposite me in parliament, hathi chale bazar kutte bhauke hazar.”
Interestingly, Kunal Ghosh, general secretary of TMC, visited Roy’s residence with the party’s message.
Banerjee was seen at Mamata’s event, but Roy went missing.
Roy later said: “We are not white elephants of the lot. We are Doberman dogs of the lot. I am not infected, I am willing to face all the consequences.”
The party is undoubtedly ashamed of this internal feud. Sources say the party will warn both sides.
