Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra promised on Friday to restore the old pension scheme for government employees in Himachal Pradesh if her party comes to power in the parliamentary elections. AICC General Secretary Vadra said this during the ‘Parivartan Pratigya Rally’ held at Thodo Maidan in Solan in Himachal Pradesh. LIVE updates
She said the decision to restore the old pension scheme and provide one million jobs to unemployed youth would be taken in the first cabinet meeting if Congress were voted to power in the state. Previously, Gandhi paid his respects at the Maa Shoolini Temple in Solan before formally launching the Congressional election campaign in the hill state.
On that occasion, she also released the theme song of the party. Gandhi’s meeting comes a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed two rallies in Una and Chamba. Modi also opened and laid the foundation stones for several projects, including flagging out India’s fourth Vande Bharat Express from Una.
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Himachal Congress President Pratibha Singh, Assembly Leader of the Opposition Mukesh Agnihotri, Chairman of the Party’s Election Campaign Committee Sukhvinder Sukhu and Senior Leader Rajeev Shukla also spoke on the occasion.
