Carlos Mendes Gomes continued his scoring run to help Fleetwood to a 1-1 draw at Oxford, whose frustrations continue at home.
The loaned Luton striker scored with an overhead kick in the second minute after goalkeeper Simon Eastwood could only parry Shaun Rooney’s long-range drive.
Mendes Gomes has now scored in five of his last seven games.
Half-time sub Gatlin O’Donkor equalized for Oxford after 50 minutes with his first goal for the club, a follow-up to his own shot against the crossbar by shooting home from close range.
Cameron Brannagan came close twice for Oxford, who have not won at Kassam Stadium for two months despite seven points from their last three away games.
Mendes Gomes was the best player on the field and it took a fine choking save from Eastwood fifteen minutes from time to deprive him of a winner.
Fleetwood’s satisfaction at taking a useful point, however, was marred by concern for Rooney, who was stretched out towards the end.
