PLEASURE: Ferran Torres scored in each half as Barcelona went 4-2 past Victoria Plzen in the Champions League on Tuesday, but both sides were already eliminated from the competition.
Barcelona remained in third place in Group C behind Bayern Munich and Inter Milan and drops down in the Europa League. Viktoria Plzen ended their European campaign winless.
Barcelona, resting some regulars including Polish striker Robert Lewandowski, struck six minutes into the game when defender Marcos Alonso jabbed the ball over the line after it squirmed past the Pilsen goalkeeper. The visitors doubled their lead just before half-time when Jordi Alba deftly nodded the ball to the feet of an unmarked Torres, who calmly pushed the ball into the net for a goal that was initially ruled out before a VAR assessment took place.
The Czech champions cut the deficit in half when Tomas Chory converted a penalty after winning a penalty in the 51st minute before Torres took his second of the evening minutes later at halftime.
Plzen responded with a cursory header from Chory in the 63rd minute to set up a potentially nervous finish until Pablo Torre hit the roof of the net on his Barcelona debut to round out the win.
