AAP leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Satyendar Jain and Kailash Gahlot and imprisoned con man Sukesh Chandrashekhar are “chaar yaar” (four friends) involved in corruption, the BJP said Saturday in a counter-attack on the Aam Aadmi party after accusations of receiving assistance from Chandrashekhar for the upcoming Gujarat Assembly and Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections.
BJP spokesman Shahzad Poonawalla said in a press conference: “Jab mil baithenge chaar yaar, Satyendra, Gahlot, Sukesh aur Kejriwal to kiya jail me bhi bhrashtachar,” (four friends sitting together: Satyendra (Jain), (Kailash) Gahlot, Sukesh (Chandrashekhar) and (Arvind) Kejriwal, do corrupt practices in prison).
Chandrashekhar alleged in a letter to Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena on Oct. 9 that Jain “extorted” him Rs 10 crore in 2019 for “protection money” or ensuring his safety during his time in prison. He also claimed that more than Rs 50 crore had been given to the ruling AAP with a promise to give him a key post in the South Zone party and help him get nominated for the Rajya Sabha.
The BJP asked three questions: “Did you get Rs 10 crore as protection money from Sukesh? Did you receive 50 crores for a Rajya Sabha seat? Have you been to Sukesh’s party?”
Poonawalla said that while people have a Ration or PAN card, the AAP has a victim card. “We all have a ration card, a PAN card, an Aadhar card, but the AAP has a victim card,” he said.
BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya tweeted images of a letter from Chandrashekar accusing Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of “threatening him through prison authorities”, offering him a Rajya Sabha seat and details of a dinner party with Satyendar Jain at Hyatt hotel.
“Another letter from Sukesh. He accuses Kejriwal of threatening him through prison authorities and offering RS seat for money. Kejriwal attended his dinner with Satyendra Jain at the Hyatt. I wanted him to persuade ex-Bengaluru CP to join AAP. In Tihar, Jain would get him to talk to Kejriwal,” he said in a tweet.

BJP contests polls with ‘Sukesh Chandrashekhar’ support: AAP
AAP leader Saurabh Bhardwaj claimed earlier in the day that the BJP contested the Delhi Municipal Corporation elections and the Gujarat Assembly with the “support of imprisoned swindler Sukesh Chandrashekhar”. Bhardwaj said Chandrashekhar had become “the star campaigner of the BJP” and relied on him for miles. “The Gujarat (Assembly) and Delhi (Civil Body) elections push the BJP into a zone of extreme fear and they rely on a con man like Sukesh Chandrashekhar for miles. Chandrashekhar has become the BJP’s main campaigner and the party is fighting these elections with the support of a thug,” he claimed.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Kejriwal rejected Chandrashekhar’s allegations, saying it was an attempt to divert people’s attention from the collapse of the bridge in the Morbi of Gujarat.
Jain was arrested in May by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a money laundering case. Wallets held by Jain, including health, home, power and urban development, were turned over to Deputy Prime Minister Manish Sisodia after his arrest.
