The government of Goa on Friday increased the cooking costs per student for its flagship midday meal program, which will be implemented from Nov. 7, an official said.
The per-pupil cooking cost for midday meals in kindergartens and primary schools has been increased from Rs 7.11 to Rs 8, while it has been increased from Rs 7.45 to Rs 10 for upper classes, state education director Shailesh Zingade told reporters here.

Self-help groups, mahila mandals and parent-teacher associations that provide midday meals to students will take advantage of this benefit, he said.
