Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel on Friday criticized Union Minister Smriti Irani, who is scheduled to take part in a Bharatiya Janata Party protest against crimes against women, and asked her to speak about incidents that took place while her party was in power. in the state.

Irani will participate in the ‘Mahtari Hunkar’ rally hosted by the BJP’s women’s wing in Bilaspur, about 125 kilometers away.

Speaking to reporters, Baghel said Irani should take a look at the graph of crimes against women in Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP has been in power since 2017 under Yogi Adityanath.

“Smriti Irani ji should say why train services have been suspended (in Chhattisgarh). Do women not travel by train? Women usually prefer this mode of transport. It’s convenient and cheap. They (the BJP-run center) have suspended it,” he said.

Several train services have been suspended in the state since early this year, which the Congress government under Baghel is opposing for causing inconvenience to people.

“She should speak about such tragic incidents as the Jhaliyamari scandal (incident of sexual assault of 15 underage inmates of a tribal school for girls in Cancer district in 2013), deaths of women after sterilization, failed cataract surgery, cases of hysterectomy ( all of which happened during the previous Raman Singh-led government),’ he said.

“If you want to compare the incidents of crime against women, compare it to Uttar Pradesh. Look how much is happening there. In all such incidents in Chhattisgarh, FIRs have been filed and strict measures have been taken,” he added.
