The 250-ward Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) will go to the polls on December 4 and the vote counting will take place on December 7.
Meanwhile, after the list was announced on Friday, the BJP attacked AAP over the inclusion of MLA Rajendra Pal Gautam as a star campaigner for the MCD polls. The saffron party accused AAP of taking an “anti-Hindu” stance.
Gautam had resigned from the Arvind Kejriwal-led government last month after sparking controversy over attending a religious conversion program that allegedly insulted Hindu gods.
“Arvind Kejriwal has been exposed… he is anti-Hindu as Gautam, who has abused Hindu gods, has become a star campaigner of AAP for the MCD polls,” accused BJP MP Manoj Tiwari.
Delhi BJP leader Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga said Gautam’s appointment as star campaigner exposes the “anti-Hindu face” of the prime minister and the AAP.
Gautam’s elevation as AAP’s star campaigner proves that Kejriwal was behind the anti-Hindu agenda promoted by the former minister, alleged BJP leader Kapil Mishra.
Meanwhile, the Congress unit in Delhi on Friday called the AAP’s “10 guarantees” for the MCD elections simply another “bundle of lies” and said the Kejriwal government was “promoting corruption” in the national capital, with every opportunity to earn money.
Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal had announced the AAP’s 10 guarantees, including cleaning up the city’s three landfills, ending corruption in the public body and paying workers’ salaries on time, ahead of the 4 elections. December for Delhi City Council (MCD).
Congressional state unit president Anil Chaudhary claimed the promises to clean up landfills and end corruption were akin to the “pot calling the kettle black”.
“The AAP government in Delhi was equally responsible for the three landfills and corruption. In the past eight years, Kejriwal’s government has only promoted corruption in the national capital and seized every opportunity to make money,” he claimed.
