According to the latest figures, the turnout of more than 74 percent has been registered in Himachal Pradesh, which went to the polls on Saturday.

According to the “estimated trend” available on Sunday morning, 74.05 of Himachal Pradesh’s total electorate had cast their vote.

In 2017, the turnout was 75.6 percent.

The hill state has an electorate of over 55 lakh.

Voting started slowly at 8am on Saturday, but increased as the day wore on and the sun warmed the winter chill.

In the first hour, a turnout of about five percent was registered, while at 11 a.m. this was 17.98 percent. It rose to 37.19 percent at 1 p.m. and 55.65 percent until 3 p.m.

A turnout of 66.58 percent was recorded until 5 p.m., according to preliminary figures made available by the national polling authorities.
