Gopal Rai, the organizer of the AAP Delhi unit, and Durgesh Pathak, the party’s MCD election chief, on Friday marked vehicles of the “garbage campaign” to highlight the BJP’s “garbage mismanagement” ahead of the elections for the social body.
Rai launched the campaign claiming that the BJP had “seeded all of Delhi” for the past 15 years.
The BJP has been in power in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) – divided into North, South and East corporations in 2012 and unified this year – for three consecutive terms.
The campaign vehicles display man-made rubbish heaps with a banner reading ‘Vote BJP if you want rubbish. Vote for Kejriwal if you want cleanliness”.
“In the past 15 years, the BJP has littered the entire national capital. Through this campaign tool, we will tell Delhiites that if they want trash in the city, they should vote for the BJP; if they want cleanliness, they should vote for Kejriwal,” Rai said.
He further claimed that the only “achievement” of the BJP while running the civic body was the creation of three dumps in Delhi.
The MCD with 250 wards will go to the polls on December 4, while vote counting will take place on December 7.
