Farah Khan was the latest guest in the home decor show Dream Homes with Gauri Khanwhere the choreographer turned director asked Shah Rukh Khan’s wife and interior designer Gauri Khan to renovate the family room of the house.
Farah’s family room initially had many colors and was very cluttered. However, Gauri revamped the space as an entertainment area by removing the clutter, installing some art and tropical plants, and refurbishing the sofa and dining area.
A delighted Farah Khan couldn’t believe her eyes when she exclaimed, “I can’t afford real art, so I put my children’s art in there,” whereupon Gauri Khan interrupted and said, “I’ll give you my art. An excited Farah quipped, “My kids’ art can go to hell, I’m getting Gauri’s expensive art.”
Impressed by Gauri’s skills after seeing her space, Farah commented, “I used to live in Lokhandwala and now I live in Italy.”
Towards the end, reflecting on their friendship, Farah Khan praised Gauri Khan for being true to her roots, despite all the success the family has achieved: “Despite all the success, the money and the people who huddle around you, she is a middle-class Punjabi girl so far. That’s the best thing about her.”
