Union Minister Jitendra Singh took to PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti on her “CAA-NRC” remark on Oct. 25, saying such talks are being conducted by people who are “probably not completely familiar” with the history of the Republic of India. His comments came hours after Mufti’s hostage-taking at the BJP-led Center that “the United Kingdom has accepted an ethnic minority member as prime minister, we are still shackled by divisive and discriminatory laws such as NRC and CAA”. “Those who are not familiar with the history of democracy in India talk like that. Whenever NDA formed a government, presidents came from minority/weaker sections. APJ Abdul Kalam, Ram Nath Kovind and Droupadi Murmu are from minority groups,” he said.
