New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today demanded that Delhi Prime Minister Arvind Kejriwal apologize to the nation and fire its imprisoned minister Satyendar Jain over new allegations linked to a massage video.
At a midday press conference, BJP spokesman Gaurav Bhatia challenged Kejriwal to respond to the new allegations “within an hour”.
He called the AAP an “‘arajak aparadhi’ party (anarchist criminal party)”, and accused it of defending prison misconduct.
“Arvind Kejriwal should apologize to the entire nation,” Bhatia said. “Satyendar Jain should not hold the post of Delhi minister for another minute.”
The BJP leader demanded that Kejriwal resign as “his shoulders are too weak” to shoulder the responsibility of firing Jain after this alleged episode.
Jain was seen in the alleged videos getting back and foot massages in his cell, reading some documents and talking to visitors while lying on a bed. Bottles of mineral water and a remote control are also seen. In one video, he was seen getting a head massage while sitting on a chair.
Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had claimed that Jain was receiving physiotherapy after a spinal cord injury and accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of “cheap” politics over health issues by illegally leaking CCTV footage.
