Top Himachal Congress leaders compete for CM post after internal inquiry predicts victory

some independent MLAs expected to make it through the fray are also in touch.

Former state president and campaign committee head Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu is visiting senior leaders in Delhi, while Pratibha Singh, the party MP from Mandi and wife of former CM Virbhadra Singh and her son Vikramaditya are also proposing to visit the national capital, according to ANI.

Polls were conducted for the 68-seat assembly in Himachal Pradesh on November 12, and the state recorded a turnout of 75.6 percent, breaking the record set in 2017.

Gujarat Elections 2022

Meanwhile, the battle for Gujarat intensifies and the BJP, AAP and Congress are leaving no stone unturned. AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal launched an attack against the BJP on Tuesday, calling Bhupendra Patel a “prime minister” of Gujarat who cannot even name his peon.

Speaking at a campaign rally in Khambhalia in Devbhumi Dwarka district for AAP’s leading ministerial candidate, Isudan Gadhvi, he also claimed that there are secret agreements between the BJP and Congress.

“Earlier, BJP and Congress had a relationship quite similar to a girl and a boy meeting for marriage and passing it off as friendship. Now let them come out openly and get married. Now there is a party looking the BJP in the eye, which has given a rallying cry.”

Meanwhile, BJP national president JP Nadda, speaking in Ahmedabad on Tuesday, said: “PM Modi has changed the culture of politics. Politics imbued with development and nationalism has progressed. By denying dynasty, familyism and nepotism, he has advanced development politics.”

The BJP, led by Prime Minister Modi, is engaged in a large-scale campaign in the state, but its course has been marred by infighting. Twelve rebel party leaders, including six-term MLA Madhu Shrivastav and two former legislators, were suspended by the party on Tuesday for submitting nominations as independent candidates in the upcoming parliamentary election after their admission tickets were denied.

The development came days after seven BJP leaders were suspended for submitting nominations as independent candidates for the first phase of parliamentary elections to be held on December 1.

Congress leader and Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot said, “At least 33 MLAs in Gujarat and 21 in Himachal have revolted. Prime Minister Modi’s party is not the same as it was, it has also changed, people are starting to speak out.”

Gujarat will go to the polls in two phases on December 1 and 5, and it will be counted along with Himachal Pradesh on December 8.

MCD Polls 2022

Meanwhile, campaigning is also underway in Delhi for the upcoming citizen polls. The AAP will launch its second campaign phase on Wednesday with magic shows, 1,000 street rallies by star campaigners and street plays.

In the first stage, the party had launched the theme of “MCD Mein Bhi Kejriwal” (Kejriwal even in the MCD), with all candidates conducting marches in different booths and conducting door-to-door campaigns. Delhi AAP consultant Gopal Rai said on Tuesday that the AAP would launch the campaign of “Kejriwal ki sarkar, Kejriwal ka paarshad” (Government of Kejriwal, Councilor of Kejriwal) in the second phase.

“From tomorrow, the party’s campaign will gain momentum. Our star campaigners will hold 1,000 ‘nukkad sabhas’ (street rallies) until December 2,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BJP is also stepping up its campaign and will launch a massive voter campaign on Sunday in the 250 municipal wards in the national capital, with a series of Union ministers and prime ministers going door-to-door to rally support for the party candidates.

The drive aims to reach people with the help of more than a lakh party leaders and workers accompanying Union ministers and chief ministers, said Delhi BJP chief Adesh Gupta.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections will be held on December 4.
