Sir Lewis Hamilton does not regret co-owning the Denver Broncos, despite the team having struggled with a 2-5 start so far this season.

Hamilton joined the Broncos franchise as part of the Walton-Penner family – the Walmart heirs – who acquired the team in August for a record price of $4.65 billion.

The seven-time Formula 1 champion was first pictured at one of their games on October 17, a 19-16 defeat to the Chargers in Los Angeles. Although the team will play in London this Sunday, against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Wembley, Hamilton said unfortunately he will not be able to attend as he is racing in the Mexican Grand Prix.

Despite the difficult start to the season for the team, Hamilton called it “an honor” to be involved with the Broncos.

As of 2020, 69.4 percent of NFL players were people of color, and that figure dropped to 12.5 percent at the head coach level and continues to decline at the boardroom and property levels.

Talk about Jimmy Kimmel Live!Hamilton said: “Honestly, it’s such an honor and such a great opportunity.

“I remember when I was nine years old I lived at a US Air Force base in the UK for a short time, and that was the first time I became aware of it. [NFL]and i used to play madden.

“I’ve been to a lot of Super Bowls. I’ve been to the first game in the UK, unfortunately I’m going to miss it this weekend because I’m racing in Mexico.

“Melody Hobson called me and said she had this great opportunity and that I would love to be a part of it, and I took it.

“There is a real lack of black property [in the NFL], and I constantly advocate diversity. There’s a lot of work to do and I’m really proud to be a part of that.”
