T20 World Cup: We made a mistake, now we are under pressure, says Jos Buttler | Cricket News

MELBOURNE: England skipper Jos Buttler admitted his side made a mistake in the loss to Ireland, which put pressure on the former champions to reach the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup.
England lost to Ireland by five runs on Thursday via Duckworth Lewis method in a rain-stricken game. They had beaten Afghanistan in their tournament opener.

With Ireland, Sri Lanka, England and Australia winning and losing a match, the top two places each are up for grabs in a difficult group 1.
“I thought we were bad in the first 10 overs and let them get away. We weren’t consistent enough, let them score from both sides of the wicket. The second ten overs were much better.
“Ireland was excellent, they outplayed us. We know we made a mistake here and put more pressure on us, but certainly if you needed a game to get going, England-Australia is one of them. ” Buttler said during the post-match presentation.
Ireland skipper Andy Balbirnie was delighted to win against one of the tournament favourites.
“We were disappointed to lose seven wickets. It was tough, their bowlers had good variations. Lorcan Tucker. It’s amazing, a little emotional.
“It’s great to come up against tournament favorites here. A few fans in the crowd have extended their stay. Their support has been amazing and will do a lot to help the game grow at home.
“Friday we have Afghanistan here, quick turnaround. I’m looking forward to it. We were lucky that drops cost us nothing, but we have to improve.”
