TOISA 2021: Meet the Nominees – Kidambi Srikanth

The Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA) The award ceremony for 2021 will take place on 14 October. Prior to the ceremony, the jury meeting took place in the capital.
The evaluation period for TOISA 2021 was from January 1 to December 31, 2021. All performances during this period were judged by the jury.
Meet one of the big contenders for the 2021 TOISA Male Badminton Player of the Year award – Kidambi Srikanthwho recently won a bronze medal at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Former World No. 1 shuttler Kidambi Srikanth became the first Indian man ever to reach the final of the prestigious BWF World Championships in 2021. Although he had to settle for a silver medal after losing to Singapore’s Loh Kean Yew during the top match in Huelva, Spain, his performance was historic. The medal at the World Championships saw Srikanth end the year on a high after a disappointing season in which he failed to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics at.
But at the World Championships, he made history and for his historic silver medal at the BWF Worlds, Srikanth has been nominated in the ‘Badminton Male Player of the Year’ category of The Times of India Sports Awards (TOISA 2021). The category winners, male and female, in the latest edition of TOISA were PV Sindhu and Sai Praneeth.
The World Cup was the only final that Srikanth played in 2021, as he lost in the semi-finals of the Indonesia Masters, Hylo Open and Swiss Open.
