Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), a camp for taxi drivers and owners was organized in Srinagar to provide them with golden health cards. It is popularly known as Ayushman Bharat Yojana. It is a health insurance policy that focuses on the poor, lower segment of society. The camp was organized for the taxi drivers who are busy with their profession and do not have time to go for the golden health cards. The department organized the camp at the taxi rank in an attempt to reach the taxi drivers. The scheme provides health insurance up to 5 lakhs for treatments in all hospitals of Jammu and Kashmir. They get many benefits from this scheme, especially poor people who cannot afford the expensive treatments in hospitals. Government hospitals and private hospitals in Jammu and Kashmir have also opened special counters for this scheme where people can use all the facilities given to the cardholders. It got a huge response from the taxi drivers and owners of the taxis. Some taxi drivers also took their relatives to get this gold card.
