The Spaniard climbed to the top of the ATP ranking this month when he claimed his first Grand Slam title at the US Open in Flushing Meadows.
“One of my goals is to finish (the year) as number one,” Alcaraz said on the ATP website.
“Now that I’m there, my goal is to stay for as many days, weeks and months as possible. That’s what we’re going to commit to.”
Alcaraz and fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who won the Australian Open and French Open in 2022, are the only players to have sealed their spot for the ATP Finals in Turin.

The season-ending tournament of the men’s tour is played between the eight best singles and doubles teams and Alcaraz has his sights set on it.
“I have several tournaments for the ATP Finals and we are going to give everything,” said Alcaraz. “I have several important tournaments and one goal is to try and win the ATP Finals.
“You have to do what you did, feel comfortable with what you’re doing, have fun, be happy on the court, play” tennis – and that’s what I’m going to do. That’s the secret for me. To try to forget everything else and enjoy tennis.”

Novak Djokovic, a 21-time Grand Slam winner, praised Alcaraz and called the Spaniard a “great addition” to tennis.
“I congratulate Alcaraz on winning the US Open,” said Djokovic, who missed the US Open because he was not vaccinated against COVID-19, on the sidelines of the Laver Cup in London.
“He did it in an incredible way… He’s 19 years old and already number 1 in the world. I mean, it’s pretty amazing what he’s accomplished so far.
“He’s a great addition to our sport, a great star in the making. Well, he’s already realized the Grand Slam champion, so we can’t speak of him as future, because he’s already a present.”
