BCCI puts Asia Cup in Pakistan on Indian team’s roster for 2023 | Cricket News

NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team will be allowed to tour Pakistan after a 15-year hiatus, the BCCI has announced ahead of the all-important Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Oct. 18 in Mumbai.
The BCCI with all its state unit representatives has provided an overview of the work done over the past year, along with the future plans and schedule of the national team’s travels, including Asia Cup in Pakistan next year.
According to the report, the Indian team will compete in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup (South Africa), ICC Women’s U-19 T20 World Cup (South Africa), Asia Cup (Pakistan) and ICC Cricket World Cup, India.
With England, Australia, the West Indies and Sri Lanka having already toured Pakistan in recent years, it will be interesting to see how things turn out as BCCI needs central government approval to allow the team to travel to Pakistan .
“Obviously when the time comes it will be a government decision. But there is one aspect. The government allows matches between India and Pakistan in global and continental events. So there is a chance India will travel, but it will being too early to fully commit that a team will go to Pakistan. But reporting it is a broad hint,” a senior BCCI source told PTI under conditions of anonymity.
Currently, the Asian Cricket Council is headed by BCCI Secretary Jay Shah and his decision will carry a lot of weight in the future.
The two neighbors last played a bilateral whiteball match in 2012, when Pakistan traveled to India for three T20Is and three ODIs.
India last traveled to Pakistan in 2008 for the 50-over Asia Cup.
The political tension between the two countries resulted in the cessation of bilateral cricket ties.
