A court in Varanasi on Friday rejected the case for carbon dating of a “shivling” found in the buildings of the Gyanvapi mosque. The Hindu side in the case had demanded radiocarbon dating and scientific examination of the object, while the plea was opposed by the Muslim side. Judge Ajay Krishna Vishvesha mentioned the possibility of harm from “shivling” when performing radiocarbon dating or any scientific research, while dismissing the plea. Lawyer Madan Mohan Yadav, representing the Hindu side, said they will now go to the Supreme Court against the ruling.
