Sourav Ganguly: Maybe I’ll do bigger things: Sourav Ganguly | Cricket News

‘Many good things in 3 years as chairman of the board’
KOLKATA: Sourav Ganguly seems to have reconciled with the inevitable. With five days of his tenure as the BCCI President is left, he already refers to it in the past tense.
“I was chairman of the CAB for five years. Then I was chairman of the Board of Directors for three years,” he said at a promotional event, reflecting on his days as an administrator.
“So many good things have happened in these three years. We had IPL during the Covid pandemic, such difficult times for all of us. We won the U-19 World Cup. senior women’s team had won the Commonwealth Games gold, they could have beaten Australia. These were great moments for me as an administrator,” he said.
The reference came after a philosophical Ganguly said “nothing is permanent”, be it a player or an administrator. “I used to be an administrator, now I’m going to do something else.”

While there’s no indication of what’s in store for him, the former skipper, who turned 50 in July, is sure to have something up his sleeve. And he left a hint that he is ready to play another innings. “Maybe I’ll do bigger things in the future,” he said.
Does he have something up his sleeve, or was it just another philosophical statement? With his talent for bouncing back, it won’t be a surprise if he’s already worked out a deal. It is believed that he was interested in taking up a role in the ICC after the BCCI stint, but reports show he lacks the support within the board.
You could read a lot in an innocent reference to the Prime Minister – “You will not become” Sachin Tendulkar or an Ambani or Narendra Modic in one day” – but again, it may be too early to talk about links.
Sourav’s brand equity remains intact
Could it go back to the comment box? He picked up the mic more than once to ask a few questions of the event promoter. And when the event managers put up a clip of him and Rahul Dravid exchanging jokes in the comment box with a familiar face in the background and a line below it: Binny 0-23, Sourav Ganguly was quick to clarify. “That’s not Binny Roger Binny. that is Stuart Binny.”
Even if he is out of the cricket administration, Ganguly’s brand equity will certainly remain intact. In fact, he is one of the most visible faces on TV screens and billboards, especially in this part of the world. On Thursday, he became Bandhan Bank’s brand ambassador, perhaps for the millionth time. He will find ways to keep himself busy.
