Actor Dhanush praised Vishnu Vishal as he unveiled the first poster of the latter’s upcoming film Gutta Kusthi.
The Maari actor shared the poster on Twitter, writing: “Here’s the first look at #GattaKusthi. Always nice to see @TheVishnuVishal in sports movies. I wish you great success with this film Vishnu (sic).”

Dhanush’s comment is true as Vishnu Vishal’s debut film Vennila Kabbadi Kuzhu, which was released in 2009, remains one of the best sports films in Tamil cinema. He again starred in a sports film Jeeva, which dealt with corruption and prejudice in the cricket world. Strikingly, both films were also successful at the box office.
Now he is back with a new sports film and has included gatta kushi as the subject of his upcoming movie. The game, which is quite famous in Kerala and the southern parts of Tamil Nadu, resembles mud wrestling, which became popular after Aamir Khan’s blockbuster Dangal.
Gatta Kusthi is directed by Chella Ayyavu, who also headed Vishnu Vishal’s earlier venture Silukkuvarpatti Singam. Vishnu is said to have undergone intense training for his role in Gutta Kusthi.
The film has Aishwarya Leskhmi as the female lead. She was last seen in the direct-OTT release Ammu. Composer Justin Prabhakaran, who is known for films such as Pannaiyarum Padminiyum and Monster, has been roped in for the film.
Vishnu Vishal, who went through a rough patch after making duds like Silukkuvarupatti Singam and Kaadan, made a good comeback with FIR. After Gatta Kusthi he will be seen in Mohandas.
