This visit to the Valley comes a month after US envoy to Islamabad Donald Blome traveled to Pakistani-occupied Kashmir (PoK) and sparked controversy by naming the region “Azad Jammu-Kashmir”. The Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs reacted strongly to this and spokesman Arindam Bagchi said: “Our objection to the visit and meetings in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir by the US ambassador to Pakistan has been conveyed to the US side.”
